Charitable work helping the elderly in our community.
Newbury Weekly News’ Over 80s’ Christmas Parcel Fund is a great example of West Berkshire’s proud history of care in the community. Amazingly, it has delivered food parcels to local people over the age of 80 every year since 1897. It’s a fantastic endeavour and we feel it complements The Louise Purton Toy Appeal perfectly.
The team at Swift play an important role in the process, arranging for stock to be collected and delivered centrally before being distributed. Last week, we were visiting local drop off points in Hungerford and Upper Bucklebury to deliver hundreds of parcels with newspapers, porridge, mince pies and other delicious food. Many thanks to all the supporters who donated and to all the terrific volunteers who showed up to help.
