We’re excited to support Overreach Barbell Club as they revitalize Newbury’s Strongest for its return — this year hosted again by the Newbury Tattoo Convention 2025 at Newbury Racecourse.

The contest is going to be larger, louder and heavier than ever.

Across five gruelling strongman events, local athletes will go head-to-head to answer a single question: Who is the strongest person in Newbury?

Each event is purpose-built to test the boundaries of strength, stamina and determination with the support of neighbourhood businesses making it all possible.

💪 The Events

Swift Superyoke
Presented by Swift Logistics

A savage fusion of grip and core strength. They lug two heavy hammers, hoist a monster yoke and sprint down the lane.

Max Log Press
Sponsored by Newbury Tattoo Convention.

The day starts off with the traditional strongman mainstay — a heavy metal log, taken from floor to overhead. With the weight going up every round, it’s purely overhead barging strength. Heaviest lift rules!

Truck Pull
Sponsored by Grant & Stone Builders Merchants

Athletes take on the ultimate test of leg drive and grit: dragging a truck down the course. It’s a race against time — and gravity.

Trump deadlift for reps.

Two straws, two sips. One pound heavier, one pound lighter. Any rep on the heavy bar trumps any number on the light. It’s about smart risk.

If there’s a tie, there will be a mystery tiebreaker to crown the ultimate champ!

Trophies and prizes to top 3 men and women but the true reward is the crowd’s roar and the intensity of the lift.

If you’re competing, on the sidelines or just interested, it’s an awesome opportunity to see some serious power and back the local powerlifting community.
