Over recent years, Swift Group of Companies have grown our Logistics Divisions across the UK, meaning we are exceptionally well placed to deliver best-in-class services nationally. We have achieved this growth organically and through careful, strategic acquisition.
Swift was established in Newbury, Berkshire, in 1989. We started the business armed with a passion for express courier, a single motorcycle and a twelve-year-old Transit van; the Group is now one of the largest and most dynamic privately owned immediate deployment operations in the UK. We have a fleet of over 150 vehicles, ranging from a motorcycle to a 7.5 ton tail-lift lorry. Our wider imprint is boosted to over 700 vehicles when including our partner network of associated fleets, to which we have direct and controlling access.
There is, however, much more to the company, as Swift Courier Service is just one of four distinct divisions within the group. Another division, Swift Overnight Services, offers next-day delivery across the UK via our partner network - APC Overnight. With a network of 116 depots, we are proud to offer a level of consistency and success that is unrivalled by the more globally recognised names in the market.
This level of performance has led to APC’s proud reputation as the professional's premier choice for time-sensitive, assured delivery services. It is, therefore, the ideal partner for Swift's Courier Services, a mainstay of the Group. In 2013, APC was voted Motor Transport's Network of the Year.
We harnessed our skills, experience and knowledge of moving valuable items around the country and applied it to the medical sector to create Swift Medical Logistics. Via this division, we provide vital logistical solutions to public and private businesses within the medical supply chain. This critical service includes supporting trauma response, delivering essential equipment to controlled environments such as operating theatres and ITUs, and even supporting dialysis patients in their own homes.
Swift Logistic Solutions is the division of the business that effectively pulls the other services together. From raw materials to finished product, this allows us to offer a comprehensive, bespoke supply chain solution.
Courier services have traditionally been regarded as simple and unnuanced, a back door to front door service. Swift Group, through the integration and seamless coordination of specialist divisions, now offer holistic supply chain solutions. The services we have refined range from product management, importation, and Customs clearance through to picking, packing, despatch and, ultimately, delivery and deployment.

We were chosen to appear on BBC Breakfast, where we explained how the company was ensuring deliveries were maintained during Europe's largest logistical challenge since the Second World War. Our high-profile involvement in such a major undertaking demonstrated our readiness to deliver at any scale and to the highest standard.
Increasingly, Swift's Management teams are present inside our clients’ board rooms and management meetings. As our professional relationships develop, more businesses recognise that Swift can offer strategic support above and beyond our standard commercial offer. Our contribution can make a real impact on performance, both practically and financially.
